Configuring TENDA Router in WISP Mode

Configuring TENDA Router in WISP Mode

Asalam o alikum brothers/sisters today we will learn about Configuring TENDA Router in WISP Mode

WISP Stands for Wireless Internet Service Provider. In simple words when we don’t connect Ethernet Cable in WAN port but simply obtain IP on WAN port by connecting Wirelessly to another Access point/Wireless Router.

In this mode we will have separate IP scheme on our LAN . And TENDA Will also do NAT for us , just as a wireless Router does.

!!!! Please NOTE that *WISP* is different from *Universal Repeater Mode*!!!

I ‘ve created an example scenario for configuration of Our TENDA Router. Let’s refer to it.

After seeing our scenario diagram it is clear that How our TENDA Router will be wirelessly connected to another Access point/ wireless Router.

IP Assigned automatically to our TENDA on WAN Port would be from IP scheme 192.168.2.0/24

By default TENDA has 192.168.0.0/24 network on it’s LAN. so we wil not change it.

So we are just left with Configuration of WISP mode.

Let’s get started.

When you access your TENDA router select the “Dynamic IP” option and click OK.

You can also select it from Main page by going into “Internet settings” and then from “Connection type” drop down menu select “Dynamic IP”.

After this Go to “Wireless Repeating” menu , check radio button”WISP”. After you click WISP, TENDA will scan and display list of available Access points/Wireless router in range of TENDA.

Select one of them and Enter password, then click OK.

After you click OK, Router will start rebooting. After that , you will see A confirmation message “Bridged successfully” .

Go to “Status” page . Here you will see “Connected ! You can access the internet” . On this page you can also see WAN IP assigned to your Router.
