How to access Cisco router via console cable (packet tracer)

This is the first tutorial of our CCNA series. In this video we will learn How we can access CISCO Router via console cable.

What is a console cable and why we need it?

So guyz let’s start with what actually is console cable and why do we need it?

Console cable a.k.a Roll over cable is a special type of cable used to connect “PC/Laptop” with Router’s “Console Port”

We use it to initially configure our Router/Switch , as by default telnet is not enabled.

Old serial cables had a DB-9 Connector which connected to the RS-232 ON PC/Laptop and RJ-45 connector which was plugged directly to the Router/switch.

Now a days console cables are available in RJ-45 to USB connector, where USB Connector is plugged into USB Port of PC/Laptop.
